
Reductil
Reductil (sibutramine) is an efficient appetite suppressant that can be used by patients with lots of excessive weight that are at risk of developing other medical conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Reductil is supposed to be taken only by people to whom it was not prescribed. The usual way of taking this drug is once a day. If you do not achieve weight loss of at least 4 pounds in the first 4 weeks of the treatment, make sure you talk to your health care provider about a possible dose adjustment or some other changes that need to be made to your treatment. Reductil is FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known for sure whether this drug can harm to an unborn or nursing infant. You will need to use reliable birth control methods while taking this drug and report to your health care provider any suspicions about getting pregnant by accident. The use of this medicine in women that are already pregnant is rarely justified. The following medical conditions are supposed to be reported to your health care provider before you are prescribed a certain dose of Reductil, as they can affect the dose you are prescribed: depression, seizures, glaucoma, liver or kidney disease, underactive thyroid, high blood pressure, history of gallstones, any bleeding disorder, history of heart attack or stroke, and heart disease. Taking Reductil can be associated with a number of side effects that range from mild to severe. There is no need to call your doctor if you develop any of the following mild side effects: headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, mild skin rash, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, constipation, cough, insomnia, back pain, upset stomach, or dry mouth. They are not expected to be too serious and in most cases go away on their own. You need to call your health care provider if more serious side effects appear, such as chest pain, vomiting, seizures, restlessness, pounding heartbeat, itching, fainting, lightheadedness, eye pain, stomach pain, muscle stiffness, hoarseness, change in vision, dizziness, unusual bleeding or bruising, nausea, sore throat, depression, shortness of breath, confusion, and anxiety. In that case there is a risk they can get worse and interfere with the success of your treatment. Never exceed the dose recommended as the following symptoms may occur: headache, fast heart rate or dizziness. Seek emergency medical help if you think you may have taken too much of Reductil.
